The Jesuit Trail

San Ignacio Ruins

Today San Ignacio Miní is the best preserved of the Jesuit missions of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in Argentina. The church, the House of the Fathers, the cemetery, the houses and the town hall are distributed around a central square.

In the construction of San Ignacio the local stone was used, the red asperón, in big pieces.
The Jesuit Reduction San Ignacio Miní, along with those of Nuestra Señora de Loreto, Santa Ana and Santa María la Mayor (located in Argentina) were declared World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1984.

At the same time, the city of San Ignacio is a tourist center with exciting landscapes such as the Teyú Cuaré Rock, the Yabebirí River and natural beauties scattered all over its extension, framed in the majestic autochthonous flora that filters through every corner.
